Midlands Moodle

The Lippincott Nursing Procedures and Skills manual and Ebsco's Nursing Reference Center are available to all publicly funded registered nurses and midwives in the Midland region. These subscription based resources are made available to you through the Midland District Health Boards, (Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Lakes, Tairawhiti, Taranaki).

As a result of the Midlands DONs project ‘Improving Nursing Utilisation of Evidence to Inform Clinical Practice’, funded by MOH, Lippincott’s Nursing procedures and Skills online manual is now available to all nurses in the Tairawhiti region via the Midlands Moodle hosted at Wintec. 

Some procedure sheets have been removed as they don’t conform to New Zealand practice and some in IV, Wound care, Mental Health, Midwifery have been temporarily removed and will be added soon once adapted to New Zealand practice.

Because the Lippincott’s product licence means that only nurses in the Midlands region are permitted to use the online manual, you need to first register, then wait to be approved before you can access the procedures. This should not take long and only needs to be done once.

How to sign up

Go to: http://bestpractise.elearning.ac.nz/login/index.php
 
1) Look at the instructions under the left-hand column headed ‘Is this your first time here?’, then click on ‘Create new account’.
 
2) Fill out the New Account form with your details, then click on ‘Create My new Account’. An email will immediately be sent to your address.
 
3) Read your email and click on the web link it contains. You will be logged in.
 
4) When you are registered, use the ‘Contact Us’ link to send an email to Tairawhiti DHB who will grant you access and let you now how to access the procedures.
 
If you have trouble with the registration process, please send the same details required on the registration form (your chosen username and password, Email address, Name, Town, Nursing or Midwifery registration number, Name of Employer, and Work phone number) to clinical.libary@tdh.org.nz and you will be signed up manually and an email conformation sent.
